Overview

Two platforms, 270' long for the Foothills Gold Line of the Los Angeles METRO system, ten years from awarding the contract to completion!

Goals

The goal of this project was to represent the community, history, and culture. The San Gabriel River is an element woven into the story of Irwindale. In addition to the mosaics, a song was composed to tell the story of Irwindale; the lyrics are incorporated into the railings of the station. I used my patented mosaic technique and created the work in my studio first, which makes installation a very streamlined process.

Process

The working environment and the collaboration were superb -, KGEM TV, Kiewit, Shaw, and Sons, etc. As with all my projects here on the CodaWorx page, all the complete projects can be seen on the Facebook LithoMosaics page. Go to FB, then LithoMosaics, then Photos, then Albums, then the named Album you are looking for. Here is one: https://www.facebook.com/200078097372/photos/?tab=album& album_id=10153293509532373 And here is another... as it was ten years start to finish, there is a lot of documentation! https://www.facebook.com/200078097372/photos/?tab=album&album_id=200294492372
